West Plains Lock & Key was opened by Jill Rich in June of 1998. Jill was trained in Norfolk Virginia by Norfolk Key & Lock starting in 1984 where she worked until 1998 when she moved to West Plains. Because of her formal training with Norfolk Key & Lock, she wanted to make sure that the passion and tradition of locksmithing was not lost in her new business here. This is where our slogan came from and we proudly say that West Plains Lock & Key is “Where tradition meets technology.” The tradition is for the years and techniques of locksmithing that we proudly keep in our everyday business. The technology part of our slogan is where Robert Rich comes in. Robert is a second generation locksmith that has grown up in and around a locksmith shop. From crawling around inside safes in Virginia, to riding along removing and reinstalling door handles, to cutting keys in the shop for the summers in West Plains, Robert has been around locksmithing all his life. Robert brings with him to the business an automotive background that has helped the company keep up with the ever changing automotive part of the business, but also a background that has helped West Plains Lock & Key keep up with the computerizing of the industry. At West Plains Lock & key we pride ourselves on keeping up with training so that as the industry moves fast and is constantly changing we are always right there with it.

West Plains Lock & Key has grown a lot over the years and plans to continue growing to best serve south central Missouri and north central Arkansas. We have gone from renting spaces around West Plains and operating with one service truck, to now having three service trucks and we now own our building so that we have a permanent location for the community to find us for all their locksmith needs. West Plains Lock & Key also now has a wide range of equipment from manual and fully automated machines to cut all types of keys, programmers to be able to add keys and remotes to a very wide range of vehicles, and tools to make sure that all other locksmith needs are installed correctly the first time.
